In Feb of 1779, Virginia militia commander George Rogers Clark and his men cross the Wabash below Vincennes and attack Ft Sackville, which was held by the British. The British surrendered the fort and withdrew to Detroit. In 1783 the Treaty of Paris was signed. The British ceded the entire Northwest Territory to the US. The Northwest Territories included the entire states of OH, IN, MI, IL, and MN east of the Mississippi River.
