Hi, ive had this set passed down from my grandmother (was my grandfathers), ive had it stored away for years, tried to find any info on it, coming up empty, it is/was a knife and razor company I gather. It says T.F. Bastete Couteelerie Royale Amsterdam on the blade, the handle seems like its made of bone, the blade on the large knife/sword is 14 inches, any info on this would be great,

Thanks, Dean

Beautiful hunting sword. These were usually German in origin, but a Dutch made set is not out of the realm of possibility. The dutch weren't known as cutler's like the Germans and French so information on Dutch knife makers is scarce. Because of the english language inscription, it looks like it might have been brought home from the First World War as a souvenir. If your grandfather served in WW1 and thats his name inscribed on it, that's probably the story. Hunting sets like this are generally valued in the $250. to $600. range. Since you give no size reference and not being able to handle the piece that is the best I estimate I can give you. This does not count the inscription, however which may add or subtract from the pieces value.

Thanks for the info, the blade on it is 14 inches and the total length is approx. 19 inches
