Volume control mod on a ACE 250 ?

Hi Mike, My ACE250 package came with volume adjustable headphones. At first I wasn't comfortable with them, but now I really like them. I know the speaker on the ACE is way loud, but maybe headphones would solve this for you. My .02

Yes. I have the headphones but I like using the speaker. It's just too loud sometimes. I put tape over the speaker slots and still too loud sometimes. If anyone has done it please let me know what you did. Otherwise I will figure it out some day and report back.

Wear cheap earplugs? Modify the operator and not the machine! ;)? JIM After making this post I gave it some serious thought. I have an ACE 250 and a set of light weight headphones without volume control. I think anyone who is seriously into detecting will find that headphones are a necessary evil even in hot weather. With the headphones you can hear the tones so much more clearly and distinctly that it will make a difference in your success ratio. If you are not wearing headphones you are at a decided handicap. So, I went searching and even made a post asking about lightweight headphones with a volume control on the forum. What I found out was that Radio Shack stocks and distributes three or four lightweight headphones with in-line adjustable volume controls. I just ordered a pair of behind the head lightweight stereo headphones with in-line volume control and an adapter so the plug will fit my detector. The headphones were around twenty bucks and the adapter about 3 bucks. I use a behind the head earmuff when shooting in matches at my local gun club and find them more comfortable than an over the head type. Radio shack has both kinds whatever your preference. You might take a look at their website and see if anything suits your fancy. JJIM
