Need Help! I have a Garrett Master Hunter 7 ADS that I recently purchased and I found out that there is no volume control on it. Does anyone out there know if I can adapt/modify the detector and put a volume control tied to the loudspeaker? It is REALLY LOUD! to say the least. No, I already know about seperate controls on the headphones, but I don't want to go there. . . just a seperate volume control is all I'm asking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I wuld go with the head phones with the volume control.

I have a amplified speaker from radioshack,$11.It's the size of a pack of smokes so it fits in my shirt pocket. It uses a 9v battery. The cord runs from it to the headphone jack. All the sound comes from the amplifier. It has a volume control on it.The cord was $1.29 and I had to have a 1/4" adapter plug (0.79)to go from stereo to mono(don't need it on all detectors).Works for me.Goodluck

i also own a master hunter ads7 i would not modify this detector in any way. get a good pair of phones and use them. you will never find a better, deeper ,coin and ring finding machine like this anywhere, you cant buy a better machine today at any price. i will put mine up against any machine out there. you just dont fool around with perfection i will trade you a machine with a volume control for your master hunter if your interested

I have one also. I really like the combined pinpointing/depth readout feature. Saves a lot of time. Wish my other machines did the same thing.
Concerning the volume.... you can add a 2.2k resistor in series with one of the headphone leads and that will take the edge off the volume.
