I did a little cleaning on the back of the VMI button that I recently found in downtown Nashville, TN. First I read the post by Buckle Boy on cleaning buttons. It is a two piece with gilt so I lightly used some aluminum jelly and gently swirled it around with the tip of a toothpick. It cleaned it enough where I could faintly read the inscription "D. Evans & Co. Attleboro". There is some rust or corrosion which makes it hard to make out some of it. I may try to clean the back up a little more. Here's a link to Buckle Boy's button cleaning post:http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,165857.0.html
