Yep...seen it happen, and I've come damn near to stuffing a trailer under a bridge a time or five. Modern van type trailers are generally 13'6" high, but in some cases a trailer will sit a couple inches higher.

..and ya can't always trust the signs..it might say 13'8", but then they added 4" of new asphalt to the road..now ya got 13'4"...
Oh Shit!.gif

Chicago (City of Perpetual Low Bridges) is chock full of bridges a semi won't fit under, and they even have a special police detail that, if you call them, they will lead you on a safe route right into your destination. It's cheaper than fixing bridges.

A fellow stuffed a 53' reefer under a bridge once...it just peeled the whole top off the trailer. Cops asked him what he was doing....guy says...."Delivering a bridge!"

Tons of Signs a Mile or so Away
And Noise Makers seem to have Workd on this RR Bridge

I'm guessing Kids with a Gun Or maybe Base Balls or Something Did these 2 in 'cause they could',
Ya Never Know Though ! Blind Truckers ?
but my guess they are pretty Sturdy so Replacement every time
a trucker hits them is not necessary
