Found this yesterday at a 1800's home site. The home was torn down in the 1940's. I believe it to be a Trophy Cup. It's heavy like pewter. Let it soak all night so can now here water inside when shook.
It looks the same on both sides. The base is broken off. Appears to have a seam around the top. No holes or bolt through bottom.
Before I hook this up to electrolysis I would like opinions on what you think it is?
If it's believed to be a Ash Urn I'd just as soon put it back. Thanks Rick.

hard to say what it is, but an urn would be my first thought

Hmm, are those mermaid handles or is my imagination getting the better of me (again)?
