I tried out my "new" Radio Shack Land Star Clone I unexpectedly got for 25.00 yesterday. I only had about an hour to hunt but managed to dig up another key, about 8 clad coins and this token:

And here's the other side:

I thought it was some kind of foreign coin when I dug it up because I didn't have my glasses.

I have no clue as to it's age but I saw one on Ebay billed as a "vintage" MTA token. The Buy It Now price is $9.50. I believe they stopped making these things quite a while ago. I have no clue what it was doing where I found it because I'm nowhere near the city or any type of mass transit. I'm actually out in the sticks and I found it way back in the woods. You just never know what's next do you??

I'm also not convinced it's worth quite that much but who knows?? These collectibles are worth what anyone's willing to pay at any given time.

Thanks for looking and HH

Nice token! congrats!

Yours appears to be:

My third edition of the Atwood Catalog of Transportation Tokens predates the token. In general "vintage" transportation tokens like this are available pretty inexpensively.

Yeah, I thought 9.50 was a little steep on the Ebay listing. I sure wouldn't pay that or even half of that for that matter.

Apparently, they stopped making these in 2002 according to what I could find out online. Honestly, I didn't spend too much time but that's what I found out.

I bought a mid 1940's era railroad token at a yard sale for a quarter about a year ago.

Thanks
