Maybe this? George V (George Frederick Ernest Albert; 3 June 1865 – 20 January 1936) was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 through the First World War (1914–18) until his death. So maybe between 1910-1918 or even a few years after.

That's what I'm thinking too. Figure it had to be after he died. I found a makeup case from the 1920's/30's in the same area. Just wonder what kind of clothing it was on ? Kind of weird to have a king on a button in the 20th century.

Mid-20th C blazer button. They have made buttons or cuff links out of real coins, almost as long as they had buttons/cuff links. This is just a modern take on an old theme.

My thoughts concur as well. This button is the style also copying a coin design I believe, which is a popular theme and one that often dates well after the era of the particular coin.
