Vintage 1920-1940 baseball - football - basketball ???

Not sure if this is in the right place but i figured it would get more views to what it is. Its from my Grandfather he collected a lot of banners and i think he played for a baseball team back in the 20's it would be nice to know the year and what the states represent. Thank you for any input.

School or college banners, looks like it was going to be made into a quilt or maybe it is you doing the quilt? Nice way to use the banners.
