Hey folks, I've used Windows Movie Maker (last 2 editions) for the last several years for all my MD videos. MS discontinued updates in January and now when I try to produce a new video, I'm just getting a black screen. This seems to be a common problem with no reliable fix. Even though WMM was nothing elaborate, it was easy to use and served my purposes perfectly. I'm having trouble finding a suitable replacement.

Any advice, suggestions?

Thanks!

for my part, I will say that for us old guys, we don't have a lot of time left in life to watch everyone's 10 minute video ( unless you have pretty girls in it)

make it short or give us pics

Pretty sure he is looking for software suggestions Jeff.

Check out Power Director from Cyberlink. It's way more powerful than WMM...and much faster rendering/processing as well.

About $70...well worth it.

If you insist on free...VSDC would probably be my choice.

Thanks! I looked at Power Director but it looked like a steep learning curve. And I think it's probably more than I need, but I'll keep it in mind. I actually purchased Filmora which comes highly recommended but I'm having issues with it. I have a tech submission into them now. Yes, I downloaded VSDC last night and am checking it out. Lots of options there and they also have a paid version. I like the fact it's open resource and seems to be updated regularly.

Thanks again!

Which one did you end up settling on? I used Filmora a while back and hated it...has it gotten better?

I'm still undecided. I don't like Filmora. Also tried Movavi. Didn't like it either. Sigh, WMM was so easy and did all I needed.

I finally settled on Filmora. I'm just about finished my first video using it and like it a lot. I've still got some things to learn and it's quirky with certain things, but overall I'm happy. Thanks for your suggestions!
