Found an interesting military ribbon or medal in the woods today. Appears to be brass and very lightweight. Has the acronym "VFA" on the front, which should make it Navy related. Can anyone date this for me? I'm not going to clean it up until I find out how old it may be and if it's common or rare.

Here's a couple of pics:

I'm not sure the navy direction is right, as the crossed fire hose nozzles makes me think maybe Volunteer Fire Something? (Association?)
It looks like it could possibly predate squadrons all together :tongue3:. Nice pin whatever it turns out to be!

Gee, I thought they were cannons! LOL! Better get my eyes checked out. I'll try and do some research in that direction. Thanks for the help!

I believe it's a Fire Academy pin, maybe Vermont?

I did see a website about the Vermont Fire Academy, but I couldn't find out how long they've been around. That info would be helpful, since this pin is probably from the 1970's or older.
