Found this button, my find of the year! It's not a coin, or anything of great value, but it's so unique. It has a horn, whip, and what I think is a fox tail. Was this button on a hunting jacket? Fox hunting jacket? I found it at a 1800's cellar hole site not far from where I live, in Nova Scotia. Has anyone found anything like it? or know the age of it? It has LONDON, on the back and other words..can't make them out. Thanks so much for any input on this button!

Very nice button. It looks to me to be a Sportsmans button. Congrats and well done.

That's freakin really cool I love stuff like that
Great find

Looks like a mid 19th century sportsman's button. Nice find!

That's a unique and fantastic find! I've gotten more and more into buttons this year as our quick, after work spots are starting to dry out. I tend to only find coins on the weekend now!

That's that word I hate seeing without justification. Throwing around the word 'unique' when talking about a 19th C Hunts Button is just odd to me. It has a very specific meaning which has no connection at all to that button, unless your explaining the way it got squashed.

Oh my, alright then. The world is full of hate, and sharing my button find, with the word unique certainly does not warrant this type of comment on the TreasureNet. It's really of not much value, but it's old and the site has meaning to me. The shank is squashed, yes, but's it still beautiful. If you don't like the button, then move on. I wish you a lovely day, full of kindness.

Thank you :) This button is my third of the metal variety, but only one with such a nice design. Unique to me. I hope to find more. It's kind of a rare thing for me to find a coin, when I do, I jump up and down!

Very nice! I would also say it’s a sportsman’s coat button, your site sounds promising, keep at it.
Welcome from the Baystate!!!!!!

Congratulations on your find! Finds are always unique to the people who recover them. It matters not what others feel are unique, it is what you enjoy. We all have different reasons for metal detecting and why we enjoy it.
I'm curious, what method did you use to get the button so clean? It looks really nice.

By the way, unique to me is anything I find that I have not found before! In my case, an old RFD mailbox lock recently recovered on a hunt.
Keep on swinging that coil and share with us other finds.

Very nice find and for me, a rather unique design since I have never seen one like that before.

Thank you! To clean it, I used a soft bristled tooth brush, and water. Very carefully cleaned it, I was worried I would damage it but it worked out fine. That's awesome that you found a RFD mailbox! I would like to find one. I just found out, through a lady in England that that the fox tail on my button is referred to as a fox brush. How cool is that? I learn something new everyday.

Very cool button & nice details, nice clean up on it, congratulations on the save & HH

That's a good find in my book too! Keep hitting it...that's a promising spot.

This IS a very unique button. Ive found hundreds of buttons and never one like this. Congrats!
