Good morning fellow TNeters.

Just found this coin in a parking lot, eyeballed it from a good distance, the sun was at a very good angle.

What I know: it's from Qatar and pretty beat-up... many cars have already rolled over many times as it seems.

It has got me into a very Summer-holidays mood, on the start of this (what may turn into a very full) working week, with the sail boat and the palm trees...

I'd like to know the age and denomination, I'm no good on reading arabic numerals (any usefull links there?...).

Thank you.

Thanks Don.
I found a link with the arabic numbers and found out about the date it's 1978-1398. The second number is the hegira date?

It actually represents the number of years SINCE the Hegira. In the year 622, Muhammad's flight ('Hegira') from Mecca to Medina to escape persecution marks the beginning (year 1) of the Muslim calendar. A quick way to compute our Gregorian date is to multiple the Islamic date (1398) by 0.97, then add 622.

Thank you again, that could be useful in the future...

I like that you wrote "quick way" and not "easy way" hahaha.
