No idea of the composition of this, but it's got no typical copper corrosion to speak of and the color is baffling. Rang in the 60's I think. It looks to have a bulls head and horns on it, and possibly some letters (AP?). About the width of a nickel and the back has nothing recognizable. Agree. Bale seal. It has the same patina as Civl War era lead bullets.

You guys rock. So this would have fallen off a bag or a bale when it was opened? Or would they have used this to stamp something they produced for market?

Either or both. This would have been attached to goods prior to shipping and removed by the consumer. These were used for a couple hundred years on various types of goods. I have a very nice one I dug on a farm in southern Virginia that says "Great Western Cereal Co." (circa 1920's). Probably from a bag of feed.
