Dug this the other day and can't find anything on it. It's some kind of clasp or clamp, but for what...it's so small (1 1/2").
You can slid the thing on the long straight part to open and close the clasp.

I am pretty sure that rtde3 found some of those a while back and they were tongs that came in boxes of chocolate. Cool find.

Those were larger and didn't have teeth or a lock. This looks like a small suspender clamp or a stocking clamp.

I agree: probably some sort of garment clamp. Sort of reminds me of some of the clips used to hold linen and celluloid shirt-cuffs in place, c. 1880-1910.

Thank's everyone!

Jim - Yes it's way to small for sugar cubes. It only opens as far
as the second pic shows. ;)

Tin & Bluez - I knew that was coming 8)

Gypsy & Charlie - Yeah, it's to small for chocolates and rtde3's
seemed more fragile.

PBK & Charlie - I think you're on to something with the clothing.
I've searched garter's, etc. Will go back and look
for shirt cuff clips.

Thanks again and HH!

It is the same type of clasp used on suspenders, but the top has me puzzled. What would be the other connecting point unless you ran something through the long part like a ribbon, etc.?

"D" ring through a folded strap or ribbon? Sewn to garmet? Just a lace fed through the folded loop at the top?
