Coming from "Down Under" I don't know the size that the coin denotes, but it sure looks like a button of some sort, maybe light so as to be able to swim with a few holding your togs on
Cheers

I agree it's a hem weight... either curtain or coat, draperies or dress...

Some swear they were also used as buttons "back in the day".

Either way it's a lead hem weight... age unknown as they are still made today.

I'm confused ;D DangL described it as aluminum.
I'm with my Bro, AKiwi  a lightweight button.

Wouldn't you think it would be made out of lead if it were a curtain weight?
I'm thinking someone was in the wrong business using weights that were so light you could hardly know you had it in your hand?
I'm thinking button

When I first saw this I thought it was the smallest hem weight I ever saw. When I picked it up I couldn't believe that it was so light. The only thing I could come up with is it must be a button. First one like it I ever saw. Thanks for the input.

could be a button DANGLANGLEY, I know that collar buttons are smaller then a regular shirt button on the same shirt? Just my 2 cents!

There is a huge difference between "CW item" and "CW era"... guess which one brings in more money when sold!

I have about 3 or 4 of these things. I have always assumed them to be old collar buttons or cufflinks. Then I found one that's around an inch. I thought that it seemed to heavy to be a button. I have to look at them again to see if there are any numbers on them. The number is just probably a size like on thimbles. But if you look at the number 4 it doesn't seem to be a modern used design
