**Very satisfying day detecting today**

Did a little detecting in the woods. Found a Eagle button not exactly sure what kind it is. Plain small flat button with missing shank. 1888 indian head penny, 1867 shield nickel, 1865 2 cent piece, 3 ringer bullet, and various relics. If anyone knows what the big oval buckle is please comment. I was thinking maybe a shoe buckle of some kind.

A very nice selection of finds! How'd you get that shield nickel to look so good? The few I've dug have come out of the ground looking like crap, and don't get any better with various cleaning techniques.

I did nothing to clean the shield nickel. The way you see it is the way it came out of the ground. I was shocked myself when I pulled it out. The last one I found was on a farm and it was toasted.

Nice finds. The shield Nickel is incredible! The ground where I am seems to eat those coins for breakfast! It's not often that they come out of the ground looking like that!!!!
