Very old textile? Weave Style?

Found digging in my yard, colored weave and (included another one that might be a dead plant.) Any input would be appreciated

You could use a flame test on a small piece of it to determine what material it is made from. Natural fibers burn with a yellow flame, form char which glows and finally ash. Polymers melt before they burn. They can sometimes be identified, at least into a class, by the type of smoke they produce. Natural fibers could be old, plastics are fairly modern. But natural fibers are more likely to decay and not last long in the soil.
