Hi all one of my friends was walkin down the street and found an envelope on top of the trash with something weird sticking out, so he took a look, they seem to be some form of money distributed by old banks I believe, they appear to be printed on yellowing parchment paper, and the dates go back to 1803 i believe, some say they are backed by a promise of real estate, and one say its backed by spanish silver,he found about 7 or 8 of them they are only printed on one side and appear to look like money, he has one thats a dime and a 3 dollar one and a couple of 10 dollar ones and a hundred, most seem to be from NY state banks, and one called something like the atlantic bank, anyone know if they are worth anything, I will see if i can photo them and post them, tammahawk

There was a lot of copied old money in the 60's and 70's for that art thing Deco pauge where you antiqed a board and then covered it in a clear drying glue, my ganny did it all the time and she had lots of old money {fake] and other things.

Sounds like a really neat find !! I found one for 25 Cents dated 1875 from a local bank here in Maine . It was in an old book I bought at a yard sale . I stuck it in another book , and now I can't figure out wich one !
I think some are worth alot of $$ .. it seems like the local bank issued paper money would be a little more rarer than the regular stuff . But it is probably more of a regional / speciality type thing ..... Good Luck !

Hi I used to have some very similar sounding "souvenir" bills. They were reprints of vintage currency. Very hard yellow paper you could almost see through. I remember it was rippled almost. Post some pics if you can!!!
