I found this not too long ago but never posted it. Dug it around 6" at a very old site and the only possible clue to its age is a 1873 newfoundland one cent that was very close to it. I never dug a ring anything like it. It's complete but it looks like the top piece had flaps that are now bent down. It would be cool to bend them back out to see it but my luck they would break off. Sorry the pictures aren't the best. image-2048371325.jpg image-2718594472.jpg image-1505254689.jpg image-3355677400.jpg

I enjoy finding rings that I know are very old. Especially if they're handmade by the owner. Just one of the neater things to find.

I have one that fell apart in my hand after digging but I have both pieces. A very old signet ring.

Nice!

Do you think it is probably handmade? It does seem brittle and I will leave it alone but I would love to see the bent top sides back up in place. I got to get a better camera for my pictures also. Thanks for looking! (:

Hard to say, looks molded.

Trying to bend something back that's been bent and corroding for a long time is a very tough call. The only thing I'd suggest, if you try, is to try to warm the metal up gently before trying. Best left to a professional though.

A nicely crafted ring.

I think I will leave it the way I found it. I was thinking to warm it as well but I'm not going to risk it. (:

That's a good find, it looks quite brittle from the pictures. I'd leave it as it is, it will bring back good memories of the hunt whenever you look at it, thanks for sharing.

Nice save congrats!

thanks. I won't put any more yesterdays finds on today's finds. Haha

Yesterday's is OK if you say it was Yesterday's :tongue3:

Last month's would not be OK
