Hi all,

I found this in an old area near a house built in the 1800s. It's some kind of cast metal and has a hollow area at the bottom, but I don't know how tall it actually was since there is no bottom. What you see is about 4" tall and it's heavy. The back had a little bit of a goldish look to it. Any help appreciated, looks like it's been buried for a very long time.

Thanks,
Nat

I dont think so... could you please take some closer pictures of the face and back of head... also pendant on neck... as well as very close of rusted / broken metal.

And could you please do a strong magnet test... i would like to know the results... as in ... slightly magnetic... big time magnetic etc.

I do not think this is statuette of the St. Louis Veiled Prophet for one... and have several other questions.

This piece has peaked my interest for several reasons but before i go further i need the above.

Not magnetic. The find pictured was confirmed by a member of the St. Louis Art Museum as being a depiction of the same type of figure.

Then at the very least... the magnet test confirms that DC Mat is correct in the "spelter metal".
.. which i also first thought upon looking closer.

At first it appeared to have rust which prompted me to ask for this test to confirm it.

Now... as far as the Prophet guy is concerned... I guess we shall agree on it... for now :)

I am just not sure why "he" would be the subject of art such as this... but i have seen weirder things.

The reason i say this is simply due to the fact that "he" is a little known figure with very little about him... and so making something with this character being the subject seems a little far out due to the fact that...

No one knows who the heck the guy / it is. heh (which would make it real hard to sell and with the work involved... bah anyway)

Anyway.... onward through the fog !

as you were.
