Today I went out to my side yard to check if the ground was still frozen. My side yard is the only area without any snow, everywhere else still has around 5 inches or so of snow. I decided to try to get one signal, then see if I would be able to dig it. Anyways, the signal I dug ended up being this interesting brass item, at around 6 inches deep or so. I have no clue it what it is, though my guess is a pendent of some sort. My house was built in the 1740's, so it could pretty much be made anytime between then and now. At first I believed that it was stamped, but now I am wondering if it could be hand carved, as each shape looks different from another. Anyways, though I am not sure what it is, and how old it is, I think that it is a pretty cool find and worth sharing! I am also going to ask about it in What Is It for more info.

It also looks to be hand cut at bottom, not sure why though.

Not sure, other than its not a pendant.

since there’s no border around the bottom, I’ll venture that its a fragment of some ornamental bracket that fastened with screws.
