I can't answer any of your questions, though I love those older Pictures where the people do not have that fake cheesy smile people put on now-a-days.

Very interesting photo! The woman's face looks like she could tell some stories.

The Sailor suit for small boys spans three or four decades around the turn of the century but was especially popular in Edwardian times.
At the beginning of the Great War the fashion was taken up by young women. At first it was seen seen as a patriotic gesture at a time when women were unable to make any practical contribution to the war effort. The popularity wained as the war intensified.

Also look at the large hair bows...

This photo dates to approx. 1912-14 due to the style of the piping.

The one in the big bow is me, where did you get my family picture from? Please return it?

I have a family picture with a my mother and a couple of my Aunts wearing those huge bows. Mom was born in 1911, and was probably 8 or 9
when the picture was taken. That dates it to around 1920.

Nice family pic! Seems as they all have their "Sunday best" on. The only thing I can possibly think, that could be on the wall, is a front for organ pipes. Perhaps the pic was taken in a church, or is a church registry photo, think of the ornate "speaker systems" some of the old churches have for their organ pipes. Just a thought ( I may not be using the right words for organ pipe front/cover/(?), whadaya call them things?). :dontknow:

My wife was born during the depression in East Tennessee. She had no idea they were poor, they were like everyone else, and had
plenty to eat. On the rare occasion when they had a picture taken, the entire family dress in their best. She has no pictures of
herself bare footed and wearing a flower sack dress. I think everyday photos are not real common from that day and age, and were
taken by the photographer in hopes of selling them. Just my swag.

You're right Bosn'. For a long time there were traveling photographers who basically made a living taking portraits. Before them, there were portrait painters. That's exactly why you see so many photos from back then with everyone dressed in their best. For those people having that picture taken was a big deal, and something everyone would see in their home, and they wanted to look their best in it.
