I hope it is ok to post this here as it needs to be seen by as many people as possible!

We all need to pitch in and help our fellow diggers!!!!!!

Clay County Florida will be discussing a new law to ban metal detecting on all county property. The law actually goes farther and includes such things as Indian relics and fossils. Basically stating that nothing can be removed from county property. The discussion will take place at the County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8. at 2:00 so we have little time.

Here is a link to the law. I found an address for the parks dept. [email protected] Lets send this fellow a bunch of emails and let them know how banning metal detecting will hurt their economy.

I emailed Brevard County about the use of Metal detectors in the County parks and this is the reply:

Per the ordinance below, we do not allow any use of metal detectors in our parks.
Thank you so much for you inquiry. Have a great day!

Ordinance 08-12 dated April 28, 2008 Brevard County Code, Chapter 78.
Section 78-120 REMOVAL OF NATURAL RESOURCES CODE OF ORDINANCES of BREVARD COUNTY “No person shall remove any beach sand, whether submerged or not, any soil, rock, stones, plants wood, or other materials, or make any excavation by tools, equipment, blasting or other means or agency in any park, recreational facility or department managed lands”. I believe the excavation by tool is the key to the metal detector issue. I had this issue in Titusville and this is the ordinance that we had to put signage up for
