Ornate Lightning rod topper?
Part of an old wrought iron fence or gate?

Looks like there is a cross on it too.

Those are my guesses, doesnt look automotive to me.

Looks to be an ornamental top from an old bed frame. I have a set from the early 1900's that has several pieces which look just like that.

It's a metal thingy, I'm 100% sure of that!

Thanks for all your comments so far, I am with A/Cman on this one! LOL. I will try not to detect so long tomorrow and get back here and clean it and about 25 other things cleaned up! It weighs about 3 pounds, it is rather heavy for its size.

I'm in total agreement! It took just a moment of googling antique iron bed frame images to find one really similar.

Thanks for the idea, sometimes all I need is the words to type into google to search things out. I will consider this solved and move on to bigger and better things!
