I have been out of the country for the last two and a half months and have been in detecting withdrawl. Yesterday I dusted off my Garrett Ace 250, put in some new batteries and headed off to Miami Beach, it is Spring Break right now down here and the drunken college kids drop lots and lots of change in the sand that I am happy to go retrieve
Normally I put my settings on coins only as there are usually TONS of bottlecaps and can-slaw all over the beach but for whatever reason I was feeling patient, probably because I have not detected in so long and decided to put my settings on coins as well as gold/jewelry. Much to my surprise it paid off, and well. At the end of the night I had about 15 to 20 dollars in CLAD, not shown in the photo, as well as a number of shiny golden items and one which I would love some help figuring out.
The picture shows:
1- A broken Silver chain
2- A gold pendant with what appears to be 2 pearls inside
3- An 14K ankle bracelet with an attached heart pendant
4- 2 matching earings that I don't think are silver or atleast I can't find a stamp on them, (funny thing, they were about a foot apart from one another in the sand).
5- An earing that has a dark blue stone set into it and a very small transperant stone in the top.
Number 5 is what I need the help with, I have tried to clean it up as much as possible to reveal the markings on it. On the back there are 6 numbers and I can really only make out the first three which are either 925 and then what appears to be a PA5 or FA5, so the entire stamp on the back would read 925PA5, or 925FA5. Does that mean anything to anyone? I am assuming the stone is probably not precious because of the fact that it is set in silver. My girlfriend thinks it is a saphire but I don't know why someone would set a saphire as big as this one into silver and not platinum or something a bit more precious. Anyway, enjoy the pic as I enjoyed pulling these items out of the ground and always enjoy looking at everyone elses finds in this forum.
Today I am off to Key Biscayne to dig around there, wish me luck
