Today was my very first time Coin Roll Hunting. I read thread describing it and decided we should try it...too cold to Metal detect anyways.

I went to the local bank and asked for dollar coins, halves and dimes. They asked how many I wanted, and I said "all of them" like the thread said to do.
$244.00 later we started opening them at home.
My first roll I opened I found this... 1968 40% Silver half. I got so excited and took a picture, thinking there would be many more...but that was it :)
It was still fun and now I have to take all the rest of these coins back :(
I found a new wintertime hobby :)

Be sure to send those coins back to a different bank, or your hobby won't last long.
Congrats on the silver!

That's a good start ! I really noticed your username because in 1977 I served on the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw , an ice breaker home based in Cheboygan , Michigan. Enjoy coin roll hunting .

I live in Poplarville,ms just wondering if there are any civil war arears I can search at

I've stopped in Mackinac area to crh too, never got much more than a few 40%. Did you get these on the island or the city?

The Coast Guard Cutter is now retired and is based in Mackinaw City. You can do tours through it. I have been through it a couple of times. Very cool! My house was right down the road on the water.
