Found this at early colonial site in Virginia. At first I thought it was a dandy button but it appears there is an eagle on it....or perhaps I am seeing things. I was told it could be an early Navy button or diplomatic button and the Eagle is actually on back of button the other t side is blank.it is a little larger than a half dollar.

It looks like a knockout from an electrical box. I think the "eagle" that you see is just a coincidental pattern on the item.

It appears to have been cut by a mechanical "punch" process. I think it is more modern as well (and not a button or coin).

DO you have the ability to make it a 'negative' image on your computer? This may show more detail.

I am pretty sure that is an eagle.

Anyone else have thoughts on this. Perhaps it is nothing but it really looks like an eagle head and wreath.

Sorry, don't think its an Eagle or a button. Not sure what it was soldered onto though.
