I was out in the woods yesterday, and from what I understand, the site dates back to the late 1800's. I found this piece there, and have no clue as to what it is. I think it is some kind of pendant due to the loop on top. I don't know which would be the front or back, but my guess is that the front would be where it is stamped.
It's 1" wide by 1 1/4" long, and maybe 1/2" high relief on the one side.

If anyone knows what this could be and what it was used for, I would greatly appreciate it.

Any ideas of what the stamp means?
Is it in a different language?

Thanks for all the help.

Well done, Nick!

The stamped design is composed of other firefighter symbols: ladder, fireman's trumpet, etc.

So can this be tarnished silver?

Thanks Nick!

Any idea to age?

I'm wondering if I should clean it any more or just leave it the way it is. It rang up like a silver quarter on the E-trac, so I'm guessing it can be very tarnished silver.

The stamped design is sometimes referred to as a firemans "scramble". Unsure of how it became called this.
The location of the stamp would be the back of the helmet.

Great ID Nick.

I thought it was a pendant from the Noble Order of Citrus Reamers.

And the symbol at the bottom represented puckered lips. You know their mantra - "Suck a lemon, suck a lemon, suck a lemon..."

I guess I was wrong... :dontknow:

I hadn't a clue until I saw the last picture and then I thought, "Fireman's Hat"! By that time Nick had already scooped me. Good going. But that doesn't do much for my .047% correct Ids though!
