Vero to further destroy beaches

Article in the paper today about Indian River County, that's Sebastian Inlet south to just past Rio Mar, and how they're gonna renourish beaches by dredging offshore. This will occur from Ambersand south to Corrigans. Paper says divers will search the affected areas for 1715 artifacts before they dredge.

I'm curious..does the Fisher organization have any say in this? How about our wonderful watchdogs at the state? Will those armchair bureaucrats step up to the plate and put a stop to this?

Who really supports this pseudo-science? Do they really think pumping dirt on the beaches helps? What can we do to prevent this? I'm pissed.

It isn't a stoppable process. The problem HAS been exacerbated by all the stabilized inlets. What they currently do neither stops nor reduces the erosion. All they succeed in doing is destroying both beach and longshore environments. People with more money than sense have built along a fragile and transitional area, and are now whining when nature takes its' course.

Sand is moved by high velocity water. There are innovative methods to reduce this erosion, but they require some intelligence to understand. This is a quality sadly lacking in a bureaucracy. They say "What if it doesn't work?" Well, that's true, but what they are doing now doesn't work either!

Government looks for the lowest common denominator..that's dumping dirt on the beach.

to solve the problem is easy ---don't build homes in a area where they will wash away if tax payers don'y pay for sand to be pumped on the shoreline ever few years -- use good sense for good sake -- and if the jackass's build anyway --let ma nature teach em the hard way * cuz with some folks thats the only way that they learn stuff. --

like a kid that kept trying to put a penny in a light socket ---no johnny no his mom would yell and jump up to stop him .--lil johnny thought it was funny and giggled, time and again over and over finally his dad grabbed her and held her on the couch -- lil johnny put the penny in "bang" little johnny got "bit" good by it and cried his butt off --his dad went and replaced the fuse then told the wife --no need to worry now lil johnny will not be doing it again trust me.
