Venezuelan Navy boat sinks after taking on cruise ship

He was texting and didnt see it

So now Venezuela is apparently committing piracy but forcing commercial vessels into their ports where they obviously intend to hold them until the owning company pays the "fine" aka ransom to be released.

Glad the govt ship sank! Thats contry's leaders are in need of a good ol' fashioned "french revolution"

Just like using a old VW bug to try to stop a tank.

What was the Venezuelan Navy captain thinking.

Today most ships have Automatic identification systems (AIS) that gives a navigational pinpoint as to GPS location good to about 50 feet and monitored by international agencies.

This means that the US could attack the Venezuelan Navy for act of aggression and piracy backed by the country the cruise ship was flagged by. (Bahamas)

Not Bahamas, it flies the Portuguese flag.

250 ish foot patrol boat with a full complement of weapons sinks itself ramming a 400 foot cruise ship.
Heh heh heh.
That's got to hurt the ego, eh?
It would be interesting to see what happens to the Captain of the patrol boat and whoever in his chain of command that told him this would be a good idea.
This story should be told and re-told for a hundred years so The Stupid is not forgotten.

Some backgrount on the RCGS Resolute :
The ship's hull and propulsion system are strengthened for navigation in ice-covered waters according to the DNV GL ice class E4,[SUP][3][/SUP] which is equivalent to the highest Finnish-Swedish ice class for merchant ships, 1A Super.[SUP][7]

Reminds me of an incident in 1987, when a Venezuelan Navy ship captured the Stena Mayo, outside the 12 mile limit.
