I started the day with a water hunt in a park swimming area. I gridded the area and managed to cover about half of it with the ATPro and I found a lot of different things. 37 coins with a face value of $3.80, a beaded bracket with 2 small keys, a 14k rope style bracelet, 2 can tabs, a silver hoop earring, a zipper pull, some split shot sinkers, cheapy beads and pendant, a stainless steel ring, a cheapy earring back and glass gem, and an aluminum bag seal. The gold bracelet was in about 2 feet of water. The bottom in this section is I thin layer of gravel over a hard packed base so scooping can be hard. I just used my Garrett carrot and scoped it up in my hand. It was bouncing between 32 and 47 on the VDI so I was thinking odd piece of foil. A real nice surprise.
The jewelry finds were nice today. You always hope for gold and silver and today I got my wish. I always scoop up the stronger ferrous signals in case it is something good. It also helps reduce the noise when I come back next time so I don’t miss the good stuff. (I use Pro Zero with Iron Audio on.) Today I found this. Why would anybody have a box knife blade in their pocket while they are swimming? I’m glad I found it and saved some poor soul from a cut foot.
After the water hunt I went to the club to try and find some civil war bullets from the battle there. They mowed the field a while back, but it has since grown up again so the swingin with the CZ21 was a little rough. Also because the weeds were big I couldn’t get the coil very close to the ground so the signals were weak and iffy and I ended up digging more nails than usual. But I didn’t want to risk missing anything good so I dug. I found 5 coins in all, 3 quarters, a penny and a 1907 Barber dime, total value $.86. I also found a mashed minie ball (probably a .58 cal.), and a fragment from an artillery shell. I was really happy with the Barber dime, it has been a while since I found one.
On the way home I had to stop at the store for a few things and stopped at the coinstar machine and found a quarter, a penny and a 1940 mercury dime.
What a day. Gold, silver, stainless, lead, steel, copper and aluminum from the water. Lead, silver, iron, and copper form the land and silver, and copper from the coinstar. A spicy day indeed.
Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
