So I found this a couple weeks ago and it my first real gold find. After research I'm almost positive it's rose gold (14k) which is why it doesn't have that golden luster. Should I get it appraised if so at what kind of establishment (jewelry store, pawn shop). I want to reinvest it's worth back into my hobby but where if it's worth anything substantial should I sell it? Lastly any ideas of value?<br />

Is that a coin inlaid and is it old are there any hallmarks ? It looks really nice probably worth more as a ring than gold melt

No the coin from what I've read is a token and almost worthless.

There's probably people here that know the best way to sell gold I've pawned some but the last two years I've just saved it good luck and nice ring

Nice find and a big chunk of gold if its the real deal .......
Did you acid test it? With that green patina on it, I think it looks more like brass. A token that has no real value is not what you would think would be set in 14k. Take it to a pawn/jeweler and get it checked. SS

zbrown,
Yes, the 'coin' is really a token that resembles a coin that had the date 1865 under the eagle (and the 'Emperor' on the other side.) The ring is clearly marked 14k and, as 'sandswimmer' mentioned above, it seems odd that a relatively expensive ring would hold such a worthless replica. Maybe, at one time, the ring held an authentic 'imperto Mexicano' coin :dontknow:.
Don......

Went and had it tested, the verdict is...plated. darn.

It's still a nice find cause its your first. Never sell your first. AN never sell to a pawn shop PERIOD. Send gold to ARA Refineries in TX. FOR 98% of spot. Another in Midwest Refineries paying 94% spot. Pawn shops your lucky to get 40%.

Don's right, clearly marked 14K

Just goes to show, never trust anything until it is proven.

My first thought was that it's plated when you see the verdigris on the metal.
Cool find. I'd keep it!
