Hello everyone,

This is my first post on here and i would just like to say thanks in advance for you help !!

I have had this chunk of silver since i have been 8 years old (I am now 24) and i found it while walking through an abandoned silver mine in New Brunswick Canada. My mother always told me to keep it until when i grew up to find its true value. The weight of the silver is 29.2 grams or 1.03oz.The length is roughly 3 cm tall and 2cm wide at the thickest point. The picture is beside a AAA battery not AA.

Now here is my question. I am in the need for money so if i were to say sell this on ebay what kind of price range would i expect to fetch?
Afterall i don't want to rip anyone off or be ripped off myself.

Thanks again in advance for your replies !!!

Welcome to Tnet pinchylarue :hello:

I think your piece does contain silver, however not silver from a mine but rather solder from an old automobile

Being that silver is sold by troy weight, it's actually a little less that an ounce.
Once of Silver today is $26.74. (1 troy ounce = 31.1034768 grams)
But as it a natural piece, could fetch much more..
Welcome to the forum and good luck :hello:

I think this most likely :icon_thumright:

To the poster, if your unsure the silver testing kit in that link is very cheap & quick to use. Not a good idea selling on ebay as silver without confirmation. (finding it at a silver mine & calling it silver is like me finding a coke can on a Roman site & claiming its 2000 years old) Always start from a blank sheet, easier said than done, I've watched many mistakes on TimeTeam

thanks for all the advice guys.My mom had this tested years back and it is 100% pure silver. But im going to hold on to it for the sentimental value since its not worth much.

Cheers

Cru I love Time Team! They rock, plus Baldrick was my fav from the Black Adder :hello:
I like & watch every episode, but the assumptions they often make based on metal finds are sometimes way off.

Well, I guess it could be melted silver slag, but it certainly appears it was molten at one time for whatever reason. If there was a smelter near where you found it I would be more inclined to think it was a spill? Monty

I'm not convinced yet either :-\

I'm no geologist, but if it has tested silver than it doesn't look inconsistent with a nugget. If that's the case, it would be worth more slightly more than its weight in silver as a specimen. My guess is <$40.
