I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when my latest shipment of coins arrived in the mail. The first picture is one of the coins I received (I haven't had a chance to photograph it myself yet). It is indeed and Obverse AND Reverse die match for another barbarous/ancient forgery solidus of emperor Valens. The second picture is the other one that is in my collection. The third picture is the other solidus "reguilded" by myself to show more what it looked like when circulating in ancient times. The fourth picture is my official valens solidus struck at the Antioch mint. Die links on roman imperial coins alone are very rare. To find a die match on a barbarous ancient coin is nearly unheard of (I only know of two other barbarous die links). To find a die match on a barbarous ancient SOLIDUS is unheard of. I am very lucky to have these!!!
Just thought I would share.
