So... I've got this awesome hammer (V3i)- and I know I need a sharp pick- but I'm still going to use my hammer because I can't afford another specific eastwing pick and nearly never need that pick except for this one particular vacation coming up- then maybe never again...
How can I set up my Hammer to get the most out of it.

Do any of you forum members have a particular coil and/or custom program that you use on your V3i for small nugget shooting? I've heard reports of 1/2 gram nuggets and know the prospecting mode will signal concentrations of blacksand and mineralization- but I'd like to hear more... Appreciate any input!
Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck I will check with some of the guys Here in Alaska who are using the V3I nugget hunting and are doing very well at that.
I'll see if I can find out what they are using and get back to you as soon as I can.

Daedalus,
I've posted the question a few other places as well. Looks like the best all around for a tiny nugget would be the Eclipse 4x6". There were a few comparisons to using the 5.3 concentric but the 4x6 got the best depth while maintainting the detection of small nuggets. The idea that the V3i can be fine tuned to mineralization and set to just the 22 hz frequency should make it a killer- but I have yet to try it on nuggets in there home turf... Next trip to Colorado's Arkansas River head waters will be the test but I may miss it this year- cold is going to come quick... Might have to wait till late spring now.
Thanks for the info if you get it- please post.
Thanks,
