Thought this was interesting. I watched the new XP video release concerning v.4 and it was explained that both v2 and v3.2 filters are resident in v.4.

The "Deep" program uses v.2 filters

The "Hot" program uses v3.2 filters

Everything else uses v4 filters

This means that if you prefer a particular version of software over the other you can still have that capability in v4 without downgrading.

For example, you have a favorite program or custom program in v3.2 but you have upgraded to v4. To get that program back (without downgrading your software) you would simply recreate that program using "Hot" as the base, then save it to an empty slot.

Same thing with v2 programs. Just recreated it using "Deep" as the base and save to an empty slot.

If this performs as advertised you could create a v3.2 program and have an identical program created using v4 filters side by side to check targets.

I thought this was pretty interesting. I have not tested it myself yet.

Thanks for sharing the info you found. Much appreciated!

I caught the same info on the video.
As a new Deus 4.0 only user can an experienced user elaborate on where they found V2.0 and/or V3.2 filters more advantageous to 4.0 ie. mineralized soil, target type, modern trashy vs clean coin & jewelry, iron, etc.
Thank you & HH!

Yeah, that video blew my mind when I saw it last night. I'll be trying it this weekend for sure.

I'll load the exact same settings across three different programs, using program 6, 9, and 1 as the base (to represent V2, V3.2, and V4, respectively).

Can't wait to see the results.

I need to reload my old base program using "Hot" as the base.

Good information, now if we could know what type of filtering each version is doing compared to the other we would have a ball game.

can you post the link to the video outlining the filter differences

It doesn't explain the filter differences beyond telling you that "Hot" uses v.3.2 and "Deep" uses v2.0 and everything else using v4.0. The take away from his statements is if you were happy with a particular program or programs in previous software versions...you can still have that same capability using the v4.0 software by creating a program/s using "Hot" or "Deep". The added benefit to doing this is you would have the additional option of using negative discrimination or 2.5 reactivity using those filters.

Can't wait to hear about what you found out lb4s. Gary blew my mind with that revelation. Still not entirely sure what he's talking about regarding version 2, 3.2, and 4 "filtering". Good catch Jadocs. Can't remebmeber now which programs I used as the basis for my custom programs. I think I used a combo of fast, hot and deep. lol. Not really looking forward to reprogramming just to be sure.

Another benefit would be the new pinpointer. Used mine for the first time today and love it!

very interesting and I asked this type of question before and was told all programs run the same filtering on V3.2 Totally messes my game up now as all my custom program,ms start off with deep and hot :BangHead:

Yeah, you were told that because XP has not documented this multi-version filtering feature other than coming out of Gary's mouth MORE THAN A MONTH AFTER VERSION 4 WAS RELEASED! Nice feature I guess, but I think XP has an obligation to let users know this nuance as part of their written V4 documentation or promo circulars, not just buried in a promo instructional video. Now I am going to have to reprogram my custom programs to ensure I know what filtering version I am using. Makes you wonder what other secrets/vital V4 info they are holding back?

Almost reminds me of the old Nintendo cheat codes.

Up, down, up, down, right, left, A, B.

I'd be willing to bet they have some sort of keypress configuration that they can do, over at XP Headquarters, that can effectively double the depth and tell you the composition and size of the target (and possibly detect flint arrowheads as well).

They're sneaky, I tell ya.

Btw, I have three programs loaded up side by side and labeled 2, 3, and 4 for the different filtering versions. Same settings across all three programs. I'm planning on doing extensive testing this weekend. I'll let y'all know what I discover, if anything. I'll shat bricks if one performs noticeably better than the others. That's what I'm hoping happens. Fingers crossed.

Awesome man. Go for it. Would really like to know what you find out. Probably time for me to finally build a calibrated test garden now.

Lucky me, I don't have to relearn or rewrite any programs. This thread was well worth reading. Thanks!

How long have you had your Deus tabman?

Hurry up laidback4sho! Looking forward to your results.

I just got it. I've only used it for a few hours on one hunt.

Well welcome over to the dark side, finally. lol. I know you may not be staying long but I think the best advice for you for some out of the box performance is to just fire up the Deus fast program and dial the frequency down to 8 or 12 khz and have at it. You should be digging your usual silver in no time. If you are really brave, dial up Full Tones in the expert menu under discrimination and leave discrimination to whatever the Deus Fast default is, for now. Let us know if you are running Ver 3.2 or 4. I bet I see a Nokta Impact test drive in your future too. Happy Hunting and post any questions in the forum or you can PM me.
