Bad news here in Broome County, NY. We had an all time high river level of over 36 ft., topping the old record by 3 feet. My house my hip deep in my living room last Saturday, as I kayaked in to rescue my wifes diabetes meds. I was able to get most of our valuables out, (had 10 mins to leave, per fire dept on Wed nite) but did have to leave my coin books and $200 face in copper pennies (basement). Couldnt get back in for 8 days!! My house is a 80% loss, no flood insurance. Guy from Fema that inspected my house lives in New Orleans, said was just like Katrina. Friends have been so great helping with the cleanup....red cross, churches, etc are amazing....we had 4 meals yesterday....
I have pics, will post as times permits...quite amazing tragedy.

My Friend,
Sorry to hear about this. So glad your family did not experience loss of life or injury. Although your loss is great, I hope you are able to make quickly recover and restore a sense of normalcy.
Steve

I have used these exact words from your title before.

Lived in Miami in '92 when Hurricane Andrew went through. Never knew EVERYTHING in sight could be destoyed. No power, water, Red Cross serving us, National Guard serving us, everything ruined inside the house, pictures, memories gone, etc etc.

I defintely can relate to what your state is experiencing. Thoughts and sympathy go out to you, from Phoenix, Arizona.

One step at a time

Ouch that's so horrible, I can't even imagine everything that must be running through your head right now.. 1 day at a time my friend.

Thoughts and prayers to you and yours, and your community.

How is FEMA planning on helping? I hope they can help you rebuild. I don't have any experience with this, so sorry for the ignorant question. I'm sure we're all wondering how you are going to put your life back together. Sorry for being so 'personal'.

Post if you need anything. The T Net community is rather large.

Very sorry to hear this. Best wishes to you and your family, and I hope things get better soon for you.

Sorry to hear this, I went through Katrina. I am inland so we escaped the flooding but the tornados and 110 mph sustained winds still arrived. It took me and dad 3 days to cut the trees out of the driveway so we could go check for supplies in town. It was a living hell. I know what you are going through... Keep us updated.

So sorry to hear about your situation. Thank godness you and your family are okay.
Hopefully, things will turn around for you now.
All the best,
rileyboy

So sorry to hear about the flooding and your loss friend but I am happy to hear you and your wife are doing alright. A co-worker just lost his family's home on the banks of the Susquehanna as well and I have seen pictures of the devastation. My thoughts and prayers are with you and hope that there is a silver lining to things especially with your insurance coverage and/or FEMA insurance. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Best,

$ilver$urfer :hello:

Dick- Thoughts & Prayers to you guys, let us know if there is anything we can do/send to help.
