I took the camera today and got a few shots on site:
...I have never been much for cameras and pictures - but thats gonna change. Here's todays foto's.

This is the park I visited today with my Ace 250. It is quite large and is on a steeply sloping hill. The blue structures at center right are the swings, which I never got far from today. Nearly all the finds came from around or near them
The nice thing about this park is its on some old ground. Down the hill, in the far left distance, is where the city once had its only "greespace", going back a hundred years+. Everything from Mayday Festivals to Boy Scout Camperees happened there. Its plowed and developed, for the most part.
But, from the park to behind and up to the top of the hill was an old luxury hotel which burned down in 1912. Ive found some older coins down that hill and there are little pockets scattered all over the park and the neighborhood. Good area of town.

Here's what turned up today. That's a Chuck E. Cheese game token next to the quarter (ID: notch below zincer). In the middle is a junk bracelet (eyeballed) in which are a silver chain-pendant heart earring (eyeballed ), a motor from a little toy vehicle (eyeballed) and a large anchor (eyeballed). It is probably an NJROTC cap insignia, as it's missing the "USN" letters - which it would have if it was Naval issue.
Also see the .22 cal bullet and the little snap - Ace 250 finds more itsy bits!

Here's my weak attempt at a composite perspective shot. The total finds, including the trash, my custom made pipe-fitting digger and the Ace. Too much fun.

Money and jewelry!

Sounds and looks like a great day!

;)

Yep, love them pics,,, Great digs, WTG!!!
As I was looking at the pic I thought to myself, if I were hunting there, I would probably hit the little section down the hill to the left, and come to find out, your thinking it's probably one the best spots in the park... I would hit that area hard & slow. There might be some mental dowsing going on... ;D
Good luck & Happy hunting~

Hey Dave, good to see you here. I always appreciated your comments at "Finds Treasure Forums."

You are that Dave...right?

I too am taking more pictures these days. I'm hoping to get some on-location shots of me digging a half eagle ;D

Well, its a nice park, which I enjoy hunting. I dont really care anymore if I find the only minnie ball or silver coin within 10 miles - Ive done it and I have a lot of them. Im still not retired on my finds. See, I had an epiphany one day: its a hobby. Now, I pursue it as such.
One of you said to head down the hill for the old stuff - hurry up, get to it, etc. I say that myself once in a while, too.

But, then Im reminded of the joke about the old bull and the young bull. The young one is all excited to run down the hill in a lather to where the heifers are grazing. He says, "Let's rush on down there and hit us one of them heifers. Yeeehaw, let's get going! Hurry, let's get us one!"
To which the old bull simply replies, "Tell you what. You run on down there and get you one. I'll just walk on down there and get me three or four."

Youre possibly thinking that someone else will get them. Possibly. I know Im not the only detectorist around - but I havent seen another one in a long, long time around here. Someone else could get them, I suppose. More power to him/her, I say - I cant miss what I never had.

Thanks for all the input and I'll keep the pics coming as they "develop". And yes, Zeb, I'm he of whom you speak.

I also use a 250 and am getting to know the machine, which notch represents zinc metal on the 250? Maybe a stupid question. Im guessing either just to the left of the penny notch or on the other side of pull tab?

Just wondering, nice finds!!!

Nice finds there, that hotel story sounds like something to investigate and it could be well worth it.....Seeker
