Hello,

I was wondering if anyone who uses the Excal II or the Excal 1000 uses Silicone Gel on their battery post when they plug in the connector? If you do could you tell me how much you use and where would be the best place to put the gel? In the connector itself or on the plug post where it plugs into the batter? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure my battery is protected before I submerge the unit all the way under. Thanks.

Just remove the flat washer after several hunts to clean it and underneath it. Apply a small amount on lube to both sides of washer when re-assembling. Some people say coat the threads, but, the threads are not designed to seal, and would only attract sand that would cause wear impo.

Use a toothpick or skewer when putting it on.
For me, there's less of a mess, that way.

I would not apply the gel to the posts or plug. Follow Fletch's advice about on the washer.
