Hi friends,

Quick question...what are your thoughts in buying this used whites spectrum Xlt e-series for $285. I'm wanting to upgrade and cannot afford a at pro or new whites. It's in excellent condition, but it's the rainbow one so its a little older.

Should I wait and keep saving or pull the trigger?
Thanks for your thoughts and opinions - happy hunting :icon_thumright:

I feel like it's a good step up from my ace 350

The XLT is very capable. If you can pick it up for a decent price, you will be very happy with it.
It is a fast swing machine, so be ready for that. I used one for many years in tandem with a CZ-7a pro and that was a killer setup.
The XLT scans fast to find the hot spots, and the CZ went slow and deep.

thanks for the input. i actually like a more speedy swing. Im most concerned about wasting money instead of saving up for something i really want. Wondering if the learning curve from garrett to whites will be too much

The audio on the XLT is easy to get used to. If you go that route, PM me and I will send you a spreadsheet with all of the settings on stock programs and the ones I used in the field.
It makes it easier to create your own programs for your area, and a nice way to compare settings between programs.

Awesome, thanks a lot for the help!!

I would go for it. I still have mine and take it for a walk once in a while. Just so you know, I have 4 other White's machines and love them all.

buy,buy buy

If I don't like it, I can always flip it - right? Seems like a good price. I just really want a waterproof machine and don't want to throw money away - on the other hand ... I'm really itching for an upgrade. Decisions decisions

You hit the nail on the head. If you do not like it, (unlikely) you will not lose much, if any money. You will always want a newer/cooler/different machine, that never goes away. (at least with me)
Buy it and save for your next unit.

I was just looking at used machines, and I just wanted to add that a DFX would be a nice choice as well.

Same format, dual frequency.

I am a fan of multifreq nowadays.

I would keep saving just a little more and get an ATP or something newer

IVE HAD MINE SINCE 1995 AND STILL USE AND MAKE KILLER FINDS WHEN LAND HUNTING (IM MOSTLY A WATER HUNTER NOW) - I USE IT IN FARM FIELDS THAT HAVE BEEN HAMMERED BY OTHERS WITH OTHER TOP OF THE LINE MACHINES AND STILL GET GOODIES BEHIND THEM
MY FRIEND SOLD HIS RECENTLY FOR $500 USED - SO - GOOD DEAL IF IN GOOD WORKING ORDER STILL

Thank you all for your input. I really appreciate all the opinions.

Let us know if you get it. Sounds like you have already decided.

well, i passed on the whites. I got a good deal on a used AT Pro shipped for 480.00 - that's what i was wanting to upgrade too and Carolina Tom let me use his once and I liked the feel. I liked his XP much better but I'm not ready for that fancy of a machine yet lol

You will be much better off imo
