Used my new Fisher F-4 on the beach yesterday-here's what I got :-)

I took my F4 to the local beach and it performed very well on the dry sand.
No jewelry, but lots of stuff for an hour or so? :-)

well here in florida I use my ace 250 running only 2 to 3 bars of sen on wet sand ---used to turn down the power/ sen and up the disc with my old bounty hunters -- (while not the best choice availible it works) maybe not super deep but it can find some stuff in wet sand --provided its not too deep --see crackbadgers vids -- he hits the wet sand with the 250 and water even --- and gets the goods -- while there are better ones out there than the 250 I'm sure (gor a much higher price) --for my mere $225--- I very happy with my Ace 250 and its 6 to 8 in abilities
I came this () close to getting a 250 after ordering one (for $165) and cancelling my order within 24 hours because I read some negative comments about it and because it didn't have a GB feature. You need every little bit of help in some situations and sensitivity and ground balance controls are a must.

I gotta go back to the beach and really give my Land Star a workout.

a landstar is a fine machine and the ground balance is a plus no doubt about it -- its the only short coming I can find on the 250 no ground balance (but by lower the sen it in effect helps but at a cost iof depth)--but hey it is a $225 preset type machine --what can you expect -- but there are tricks and tips that help out still -- Ivan

OH YA!
I love it! :icon_sunny:
It is equal to Flyfishing on a mountain stream for me.
I love both and both give S~T~R~E~S~S a break for a while. :tard:
Of course, there are no mountain streams here in SW Florida, so, it's a good thing I love metal detecting too!!! ::)
I know what you mean. That's the good thing about living up here, I can do both in one weekend! ;D But then again, I can't md year 'round without getting frost bite. :(
Can't wait to see what else ya find!

Nice finds, looks like you had an enjoyable day. Which beach were you hunting?

Chuck, have you visited Sebastian Bay? Even in the dry sand you stand a chance of finding some artifacts from the 1715 fleet and some detectorists have reported finding doubloons and pieces of eight in the dry sand. Just don't go IN the water as it's against the law. But the wet sand should be alright.

Hi again! :-)
Ya, I have gone across state and hunted Sebastion and many other places. But I have never made the trip across specifically to hunt for 1715 fleet items.
I've hunted "THE CABIN WRECK" site and "COLORED BEACH" and other areas, but with no sucess.
That pretty much has to be done right after a major sand cut-usually a hurricane that cuts 5' -10 feet of beach out and gets you down to harder bottom and heavy gold and silver.
Not all the treasure was left at the wrecks in 1715 either.
Much of it was salvaged right back up by the survivors and in some cases, reburid on shore only to be lost to them. Later Spain recovered more as well, but there was plenty left behind and i'm sure it will be found after every hurricane and major sand cut, forever!
That's when all the East coast experts find the 1715 stuff.
Of course, it's not impossible to get lucky and hit a target sitting on a rock, left behind from a previous storm, but it's slim. :-)
Next time a hurricane hits, i'm gonna try to be there-assuming i'm not blown away right here first! :-)
