I normally magnet fish but this is what I saw off of a bridge yesterday, my magnet connected to it but it would not budge

I went back today and managed to pry it loose with my grappling hook (which is a boat anchor I found last year while magnet fishing, converted into a grappling hook)

Had brass plaque on it with words. I believe this was the casing for a hydraulic press, maybe a paper making machine. It was very heavy with the water in it (also had some small catfish in there LOL), we drained the water and nothing was in it

You may need a commercial fishing license or permit if you use this for a catfish trap.

You sure find some interesting items with that magnet. I'll bet the baby catfish were thanking you !

Congratualtions on the very interesting find! :icon_thumleft:

no, don't worry my wife is ok with me taking the stuff to the scrap yard

Smart move. Much better idea than "hey look what I got your mom for mother's day..."

Interesting find MA! I'd have to call this flotsam. Debris in a waterway as a result of flooding. I looks to like the control cabinet for a chiller, a large refrigerant pump ping unit for an industrial refrigeration system. I used to have all kinds of wiring and switches in it and they've already been salvaged. "Ida taken it to the junk man but Bubba wouldn't help me load it on the truck!"

Not likely from flooding, this area is only 3 feet deep and is filled with tree limbs, stumps and rocks. I think it was thrown in

you never know what you will find.

Jimmy Hoffa's coffin
