Minelab X-Terra
It's alot more powerful than my other detector. i found a bunch iron. and found like 1.00 in clad.
Do any of you have a problem pinpoining? It seems alot harder than the detectors. and on of my buttons snappped of the the detector. i will have to super glue it back. and what does threshhold mean? and how should i set it? an how should i set the disc?
and is the sensitivity at auto ok?
Thanks-

Did you not get the handbook with it? If so you have to read it? All the questions your asking are in there. As for the knob "is it just the plastic knob that is turning?" if so just get another knob and put it on. If it's the whole Knob then you will have to send it in to Minelab.
You can contact this guy at [email protected] his name is John it costs about $15 for all 5 Knobs as I just bought them they have a little screw in the side instead of the nut on top and work better than the old ones.. Good Luck. :icon_thumright:

Did you read the manual? Threshold is the hum you hear in the head phones and is controlled by the Threshold knob. You want the sound to be where you barely hear it. It is OK to run it in AUTO especially while you gain experience as it is easier.

Pinpointing is a snap and you don't need to change to the pinpoint mode to do it as it wastes time. Instead when you get a signal slowly move the coil back and forth while pulling it back toward you. When the sound stops, gently slide the coil forward till you again hear the signal and the target is just off the fron edge of the coil. Try it on the sand with a coin.

As for the knobs, follow March45's advice and get the metal ones with the set screws. Don't get brass set screws as they will react with the saltwater and freeze up. Start reading CJC's books on the Excal.
