I recently purchased a digital microscope in the hopes of getting quality closeup photos of coins. The results are pretty amazing! You can see the results of a 1938 Mercury dime I have in my collection. Plus the microscope was under $40. If anybody is hesitant about buying one, I can pass along which brand I purchased as there are several on the market.

I have two, one on the fixed stand, and one with the flexible stand (which won't stay set). I think they work great!

Got both from Amazon, and they ARE relatively inexpensive. Like gold and silver test kits, I believe these are essential to our hobby enjoyment.
