USA BUTTON, REAL OR FAKE?

So im snowed in and im going through my finds from the fall. Cleaning them up, came across this flat button that was caked with dirt started to clean it off and seen USA. So carefully dry brushed the rest off..If this is real its incredible shape for being pewter. ..
Any help would be great.

I know thats why im asking. .
Although the pewter is starting to flake.

It looks in to good of shape. .
Everyone I've seen was toasted. .

I have no idea if it is good or not, but in Albert's book he mentions that GI4 was a recent "copy" specimen which appears to have been cast in plaster of Paris molds, cast pewter. 1930-1940s.

I believe that's as real as your NE Shilling lol. Honestly the only thing that scares me about it is the condition as you know. And all of the USA buttons I've seen just seem a little more crude in their design. But you will find one this season. I mean you live right in areas that the Continental army frequented. But I have some bad news for you....no Chain cent for you this year bud. Well not until after I find one . But I guarantee you that a nice indian head is in your future lol

Like you said, you will never see them in this condition, I found a pewter button of same diameter and am hoping it is military the problem is, it is flaking away. The back on the OP's button is a dead giveaway too.

Here is the button I hope is military but am not very sure do to corrosion. The button the OP found would look more like the pewter button I found in terms of condition.

Plus it just doesn't look right and the metal looks like it could be modern "white metal" (junk metal). My advise would be to trade it to Abe for his Shilling.

Leave me out of it bro. I don't want George's junk lol. I sure would like to find a Rev War button this season. Hell a nice War of 1812 would be fine with me....I'm not picky. But I'll just settle for some Mass silver. Guess a Willow tree or a NE Shilling will suffice. I don't want to set my expectations too high
