Yesterday I dug a Fine Looking/ Condition Button from a Known CW Area.

I Really did not look at it until I got home , noticed "P O D" on the Bottom.

Since then I have learned it's US Postal Service Button , With this style being issued from 1893 -1970.
'Man walking with postal bag W/ P O D' on the bottom front.

Saw some posts saying these types were Civil War Period but US Postal Buttons did not come out until after the war & had a different Design from the Late 1868 until 1893.

My question can I tell by the Back-mark if my button Dates from Estimated 1893 1905? or Est, 1910-1940? I know during WW2 they made the buttons of plastic & other metals, then resumed brass in 1950-1970 'in this style.

Is there a Back-Mark to let me know if my button was from the 1950-1970 range?

I would love for it to be a late 1800's or before WW2.

I (as u can tell) need a Back-mark time frame for these Buttons.

Being in Great condition & from a Known CW Area it was a heart Breaker that it was not a Confederate or Union Period button, But hey it's Cool & will look good in my button Collection.

P.S. I have not Read the Back-mark Yet , just was hoping someone was /is Knowledgeable about these buttons.

I put this on the GD Forum First , but then thought better.

Thanks to all for any Help.
