I agree that it is a Pennsylvania National Guard collar disk. :thumbsup:

However, the diamond/crosshatched background identifies it as a Type II disk, used from about 1926 to 1937. So, it's post-WWI.

Not sure about the variety, but I think it's the one with tiny acorns inside the diamonds. There are also some with shields or dots in the diamonds.

the style of writing would indicate army. penn would be pennsylvania national guard. and 109 is most likley the unit. cool find
