US militay button?

I found this awhile ago detecting in England. Is it a US military button please?its in bad condition but looks like an eagle coming out of a shield with stars around it. All help much appreciated

It is a United States Air Force button...Can you read the backmark?

Sadly this is the back. I can make out a few letters. Looks like ECOKILL if that's any help?

Just googled US airforce buttons and it is definitely the same as this one :D is this one that all the US airforces used? Do you know what sort of date please? Many thanks

It probably says Scovill Mfg. Co. on it.

Thanks so its not a style that comes from a specific area then? It wouldn't be more WW2 date then?

It is quite possible that it is a WWII button .. A complete backmark would help in making that determination, but yes .. it is quite possible and very probable that it is a WWII era button.

The "United States Air Force" did not exist until 1947... so these US Air Force buttons cannot be from World War 2. Prior to 1947 it was known as the US Army Air Corps. According to the book "Record of American Uniform And Historical Buttons" by Alphaeus H. Albert, the 1947-49 US Air Force buttons were goldplated, but have been silverplated ever since then.
